20th Century Records Star Wars 2-Record Vinyl Album Original Soundtrack Rare!
For many science-fiction fans, nothing is more iconic than the opening fanfare of 20th Century Fox and the opening score of Star Wars. When it hit the screens in 1977, it was unlike anything every seen before. Thanks to the partnership of George Lucas and his group of talent both in front and behind the camera, we received a spectacle from the opening chase scene of the Rebel Blockade Runner Tantive IV and the Imperial Star Destroyer, to the destruction of the fearsome Death Star. However, none of it would have had the impact it had without the music, and that is where world famous composer John Williams came in to deliver a soundtrack that created a music score that is recognized to this day.
In the late 1970's, my brother and I were just kids, pre-teens who were the target audience of this galactic adventure, and you better believe that we grew up with action figures, X-Wings and TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon, Lightsabers and Droids. However, while we did that, we listened to the sound of the Star Wars Soundtrack, courtesy of this 2-record album released by 20th Century Records. It was one of my brother's favorite records and would be found stored away in a dark closet while we were pulling out things following his passing.
The album and 2-record set are in great condition for their age. The album is in great condition and, unlike many similar albums, does not suffer from the tell-tale ring on the front and rear cover where the edge of the record pressed against the inside of the album, creating a white ring on the black surface of the cover. The surface of the front and rear cover as well as the inner portions where the images from the movie are shown, are in incredibly fantastic condition, with only small nicks in places. There are no tears, dings or crushing damage or separation of the album pieces.
The records are in great condition, and although there are some small scratches, the surfaces are undamaged and play beautifully. While you can listen to the soundtrack on live stream, YouTube or other digital methods, nothing is more satisfying than listening to this iconic soundtrack on vinyl. Both records come in their original 20th Century Records sleeves and while they are a little crumpled on the corners, they are NOT torn or rippped.
