Decca cut (-1W/-2W/-1W/-4W) and pressed.
Excerpt from comparative review from "The Gramophone":
The Vienna Philharmonic play beautifully for Maazel throughout his Mahler cycle. The solo trumpeter is a master; the ‘cellos in their solo passage in the second movement (page 70 of the score) are perfect in intonation and phrasing and the horn in the Scherzo is poetic and nostalgic.
Although the Los Angeles orchestra of 1977 were not the equal of their Viennese colleagues, notably in the brass, Mehta's interpretation is tauter and stronger. He takes seven minutes fewer overall than Maazel. Neither conductor dawdles in the famous Adagietto, but Mehta's exuberant reading of the finale is one of the most satisfying on record and he has the edge on Maazel in every aspect of the first movement. The Mehta version has the advantage of particularly fine sound quality.

One or two inaudible surface marks on side 2
One or two spindle lines on all four labels.
Otherwise:
Superb..only the slightest indication that they have ever been played or handled.
Bright clean surfaces which have obviously been handled with extreme care.
In ordinary light the discs looks brand new.
Sleeve:
Slight signs of handling: a small crease to the upper right front gatefold corner...
Front glazed finish fine with no damage.
No wear to the upper or lower edges.
Corners fine.
