2LPs: The Weavers REUNION AT CARNEGIE HALL, 1963 - Vanguard VSD 2150 -&- THE WEAVERS REUNION, Part 2 - Vanguard VSD 79161 - Both Factory Sealed - TAS
On the TAS list in the popular category there are only ten albums from all of recorded literature that have ever been favored with the "Best of the Bunch" honor.
This is one.
Fact is, the Weavers' REUNION is renowned for its audio capture, in the sense of how alive and utterly natural it sounds…as if, yes, you are sitting right there in the concert hall. (Believe me, Carnegie is no slouch in the acoustics department. Hardly.)
If you are unfamiliar with the famous folk group, the music here includes tunes like WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN, WOKE UP THIS MORNING, IF I HAD A HAMMER, GOODNIGHT IRENE, and RAMBLIN' BOY, among others.
And this TAS recognized pressing is factory sealed. But it's only half the story. After all, the concert reunion was two days long, yes, with the same recording team present on day 2, which is what the second album offering is here: Part 2, which never gets talked about but is just as fine.
Selections on this disc include OLD SMOKY, KISSES SWEETER THAN WINE, LA VOLETTE, FIGHT ON, GET UP GET OUT, ROCK ISLAND LINE, and SINNER MAN, among others.
Both releases are factory sealed and both are among the very best "live" experiences on vinyl, bar none.
