Description

2 LP's from Bristol band "Watchtide". Both 1991 "Taste" and "Could fortune smile". On Indie label.   Electronic, experimental pop music? Lp very clean. Never used. Some slight wear on sleeves. Rare albums.

Watchtide were an art/experimental/pop band from Bristol and this is taken from their rare debut LP "Taste". The band were influenced by acts such as Tears For Fears, and were compared to them as well as to The Blue Nile and even Canterbury Scene proggers Caravan (the latter comparison being due to similarities between the vocalists). The album was recorded on a Fostex E16, with an Atari running Notator (MIDI sequencer and an early forerunner to Logic) driving an Akai S950 and a couple of MIDI modules. The mechanical samples in 'Rise' were taken from a salvaged 1950's pinball machine, and this track also has a bit of a Kraftwerk influence as well as some great soulful improvisation from Bristol vocalist Tammy Payne in the middle section.
