Description
This lot contains three 10-inch 78 RPM records featuring vocals by Al Bowlly. In the order shown in the pictures, they are:
Victor # 24806 -- "Blue Danube" and "I Love You Truly" by Ray Noble and his Orchestra. The former is instrumental. Discogs identifies Al Bowlly as the singer on the latter, even though it is labeled simply "with vocal refrain."
Victor # 25448 -- "Little Old Lady" and "Now" by Ray Noble and his Orchestra, both sides labeled "vocal refrain by Al Bowlly."
Bluebird # B-7319 -- "Every Day's a Holiday" and "Outside of Paradise" by Al Bowlly and his Orchestra, both sides labeled "vocal refrain by Al Bowlly."
In terms of condition, the first point of interest is the bite-size piece that is missing from the edge of the Bluebird 78. What remains of the record, however, is in VG+ or better condition, still beautifully shiny, and not a lot of visible surface wear. Victor # 25448 is similarly pristine, and Victor # 24806 slightly less so. They all play through without jumping or repeating on my Audio-Technica turntable, and with very little background noise, maybe some occasional pops and clicks. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment. It also has a chip at the edge, but it doesn't reach as far as the playing surface.
The paper sleeves shown in the pictures are also included, but they are chipped, creased and torn and add nothing to the overall value.
