Up for sale are three vinyl LPs by Billy Joel.
Souvenir from 1977 is a white label promotional Columbia release AS326. Billy Joel's blockbuster The Stranger album was released in 1977. This demonstration/promotional vinyl LP was also released in 1977 to promote his earlier songs. Side 1 contains these songs recorded live on December 5th and 6th at UCONN: "The Ballad Of Billy The Kid", "Summer, Highland Falls", "New York State Of Mind" and "Souvenir". Side 2 contains songs from the Streetlife Serenade, Turnstiles and Piano Man albums. The release number on the spine is AS362 instead of the correct AS326. On the rear of the cover the word "Ballad" is misspelled in "The Ballad of Billy the Kid". The album cover is G with minor dents on the left side and top right corner (see photos). The vinyl is in VG condition with no scratches.
Cold Spring Harbor from 1971 is a Family Productions release FPS 270. This vinyl LP is the result of the joint efforts of Just Sunshine and Family Productions and is distributed by the Famous Music Corporation, a Gulf + Western Record Company. The original Family Music release disc was mastered at the incorrect speed and runs approximately 8% faster (one-half of a semitone higher) than recorded in the studio. This release contains the original versions of "Everybody Loves You Now", "Turn Around", "You Can Make Me Free" and "Tomorrow Is Today". "She's Got A Way" and "Everybody Loves You Now" were released as live versions in 1981 on Songs In The Attic. The label on the vinyl includes the words "D.J. Copy". The vinyl and album cover are in VG condition. The vinyl has no scratches.
The reissued Cold Spring Harbor vinyl LP from 1983 is the Columbia release PC 38984 in VG+ condition. This release was edited, remixed, partly re-recorded and remastered at correct speed. Studio musicians were brought in to overdub drums, synthesizers, and Fender Rhodes for new rhythm sections on "Everybody Loves You Now" and "Turn Around". On this release "You Can Make Me Free" was truncated by nearly 3 minutes. Also the bass, drums, and orchestration on "Tomorrow Is Today" were removed. I purchased this vinyl new and it includes the original sticker that was on the outside shrink wrap (see photos). The vinyl and album cover are in VG+ condition. The vinyl has no scratches.
I have owned these 3 LPs for many years and have carefully kept them in good condition. All are from a smoke free environment.
