Vinyl Grading Standards
MINT: Perfection, no flaws, defects, marks or otherwise indications of being handled or played.
NEAR MINT: The disc is bright & shiny. The label is bright, clean & has no marks. There are no scratches or other obvious signs of wear. The disc should play with no audible noise.
VERY GOOD PLUS : Disc may show some slight signs of wear. Only a few marks, light scuffs or very light scratches but nothing that affects play. The disc is bright & shinny and has a clean unmarked label. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are fine. The center hole is not misshapen. There may a very little light surface noise at very quiet portions and between tracks or none at all. If there is noise, it will not overpower the music.
VERY GOOD: Disc may appear a little dull. Groove wear and light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) are evident. Disc has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, but the noise will not overpower the music. Labels are easily legible but may have small tears, tape marks, stickers or larger writing. There may be wear or deformation of the spindle hole.
GOOD: Has a lot of marks and deeper scratches which causes distracting noise. Shows significant ring and groove wear. Disc will play through without any skipping. Labels may be significantly damaged or defaced.
Cover Grading Standards
MINT: Absolutely perfect.
NEAR MINT: Covers are free of creases, folds, ring wear and seam splits or other noticeable defects.
EXCELLENT: Very minor signs of wear or cover impressions. May only have slight edge wear, minor disc impression or slight corner creases. No wrinkles, seam splits or writing on the cover. Artwork is clean and unworn.
VERY GOOD PLUS: Cover is clean but may have minor writing or marks and may show slight wear. There may be just the start of ring wear. There may be slight discoloration or staining, minor seam wear, but no splits or tears. Corners may have small creases or fraying.
VERY GOOD: Covers are worn and used. Seams may be starting to split (may appear on all 3 sides). There is moderate ring wear, but the artwork is still attractive. There may be yellowing or discoloration and there may be larger writing, labels, or marks. Corners may have damage or creases.
GOOD: The Cover is very used. Artwork and information must be legible. Splits and ring wear can be expected. There may be yellowing or discoloration and there may be large writing, labels, or marks.
