Several years ago, these musical Christmas Ornaments were produced. You push the button on the record player, the record spins and everything lights up and the actual Stones songs play. 30 to 45 secs.
Here’s the deal - someone has the great idea to do Rolling Stones Songs to Christmas Ornaments. Great idea, right? They’ll only be sold down South in the Bible Belt and only at Lowes Hardware. The problem was that the Stones songs chosen were “Gimmie Shelter” (not so bad there). Next they did “Let’s Spend the Night together” and of course nothing says “Christmas Down South” like the Yuletide classic of “Sympathy For The Devil!!” The ornaments lasted all of about a week. People raised all kinds of hell about these being inappropriate! All the Lowe’s managers were told to pull the line, and destroy them. I was able to get these 3, and got all of the above from the actual SE Sales Manager that sold these things. He said it was just a never ending nightmare.
Sympathy is the crown jewel of them all, due to the song being so awesome and being the main reason for the line being pulled. Last one that sold was about 3 years ago was in the $400 range.
Let’s Spend The Night - was the 2nd most offensive one, as it sent the “wrong message” about Christmas.
Gimmie Shelter was also pulled, just because it was with the other two. Here again, awesome song and makes it highly sought after!
Never removed from packages and all 3 work great. Batteries will need to be replaced though. Once done, the music will be loud and clear! They’ll play longer too. Minor wear to the boxes
