It seems like 1966 was the year for RED VINYL PROMOTIONAL RECORDS!

In this auction are THREE PROMO RECORDS.

As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were typically ONLY released by record companies to VIPs in the industry and primarily to the radio stations and DJs for on-air play or for promotional give-away purposes. They were produced in very small/limited quantities and were NOT made available for sale to the general public; therefore, many promotional records are particularly hard-to-find these days and have become HIGHLY DESIRABLE to vinyl collectors and fans of certain recording artists/bands.

PROMO RECORD #1:

• “I AM A ROCK” b/w “I AM A ROCK” by Simon And Garfunkel (Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel)

• This is Columbia Records 4-43617.

• It was released in 1966.

• This PROMO RECORD is SPECIAL: IT’S ON RED VINYL!!!

• It has WHITE PROMOTIONAL LABELS on both sides.

• There is NO STEREO designation printed on a label, so both sides must be in MONO (Monaural).

• “NOT FOR RESALE RADIO STATION COPY” is printed on both labels.

• This song was taken from Simon & Garfunkel’s critically acclaimed second LP, “The Sounds of Silence”.

• The WHITE PROMO LABELS are RATHER CLEAN with light wear. There are NO stickers/tape, NO sticker/tape stains, NO tears and NO writing which are often found on promo records from typical DJ use.

• The VINYL is in VG CONDITION with numerous light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feel-able”).

• The record comes in a later Columbia Records generic stock paper sleeve.

PROMO RECORD #2:

• “TURN – DOWN DAY” b/w “TURN – DOWN DAY” by The Cyrkle

• This is Columbia Records 4-43729.

• It was released in 1966.

• This PROMO RECORD is SPECIAL: IT’S ON RED VINYL!!!

• It has WHITE PROMOTIONAL LABELS on both sides.

• There is NO STEREO designation printed on a label, so both sides must be in MONO (Monaural).

• “NOT FOR RESALE RADIO STATION COPY” is printed on both white labels.

• The WHITE PROMO LABELS are PERFECT (with NO blemishes at all (NO writing, NO tears, NO stickers/tape and NO sticker/tape stains)

• The VINYL is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.

• The record comes in a later Columbia Records generic stock paper sleeve.

PROMO RECORD #3:

• “SUNSHINE SUPERMAN” b/w “THE TRIP” by Donovan (Donovan P. Leitch)

• This is EPIC Records 5-10045.

• It was released in 1966.

• This PROMO RECORD is SPECIAL: IT’S ON RED VINYL!!!

• It has WHITE PROMOTIONAL LABELS on both sides.

• There is NO STEREO designation printed on a label, so both sides must be in MONO (Monaural).

• “RADIO STATION COPY” is printed on both labels.

• The WHITE PROMO LABELS are RATHER CLEAN with light wear on the B-side and a bit more wear on the A-side. The name “Mike” and “68” are written in blue ballpoint on the A-side label, but there are NO stickers/tape, NO sticker/tape stains and NO tears which are often found on promo records from typical DJ use.

• The VINYL is in WEAK VG to VG- (VG Minus) CONDITION with numerous light/surface scratches/scuffs and moderate scratches/scuffs. Some of the moderate scratches/scuffs on both sides are “feel-able”. I played both sides of this record and there is some surface noise like pops here and there, more so on the B-side than the A-side.

• The record comes in a later EPIC Records generic stock paper sleeve.

FYI: I used Goldmine Grading Standards (P for Poor, F for Fair, G for Good, G+ for Good Plus, VG

 for Very Good, VG+ for Very Good Plus, NM for Near Mint, M for Mint) to VISUALLY GRADE
