Description
*** Pre-War Blues ***
Here's a original 1930 US 1st issue 78 rpm.
Great fun Chicago Blues by a pre-gospel career Thomas A. Dorsey as Georgia Tom and female blues queen Mozelle Alderson here as Kansas City Kitty.
Thomas A. Dorsey is a seminal figure in 1920s Chicago Blues, who went on to become a legend in the Gospel field.
Mozelle Alderson was the real name of a busy and often raunchy singer who recorded for labels like Black Patti, Paramount, Brunswick, Romeo, Perfect, Crown, Broadway, Mellotone and Vocalion, under a variety pseudonyms. Her records were released as by Hannah May, Thelma Holmes, Mae Belle Lee, Kansas City Kitty and Jane Lucas. For Black Patti she recorded under her real name. She was also part of The Famous Hokum Boys and The Harum Scarums (With Dorsey and Big Bill Broonzy).
Recorded on August 25, 1930 in Chicago, IL.
