Bach --- The Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas Volume Three
No.5 in C major
No.6 in E major
Columbia 33CX 1288 Blue and Gold label made in Great Britain circa 1955
CONDITION
The labels are in near mint condition.There is no evidence of marking around the spindle.
The vinyl retains its healthy gloss.
Both sides have "hairlines".We have listened to both sides being played on high quality equipment and are delighted to report that the sound reproduction was wonderful-so sharp and clear.The "hairlines" do not affect the performance.
We do need to add that we did notice surface noise particularly on the opening quiet section of Sonata No.5.We have a feeling though, that this would be the case with a near mint copy.
Overall we classify the record as being in EXCELLENT condition.
The cover has to be graded VERY GOOD.
The main problem is the spine which is split along 7 cms of its length.The record came to us without a dust sleeve and the sharpness of the record edge against the card must have done the damage.(The record now has a Columbia sleeve).
Otherwise, there is a bit of sellotape at the top left,minor bumping at corners and a slightly grubby appearance.There is no writing or other marking of note.
We know we are very lucky to having been given this record to auction for Oxfam and we appreciate that there will be questions potential buyers will want to ask.Some local collectors may want to inspect the record at our shop.Please e-mail and we will do our best.
We intend to send the record by recorded delivery within the U.K and Airsure if it is sent abroad.
