Description

I cannot find any information on this 3-record set.  The only mention of it came on this page:  http://www.naxos.com/mainsite/blurbs_reviews.asp?item_code=8.120836&catNum=120836&filetype=About+this+Recording&language=English

On this page, an individual appears to explaining the sources for a CD compilation of Bob Hope's and he provides the a listing of tracks including "Anchorage Monologue from Chesterfield program,Anchorage, Alaska; Our Pacific Tour album, Side 1; mx HEO-MC-7018-1. Recorded 1950"  The numbers provided HEO..., are the matrix numbers for side 1 of this 3 record, 6-sided album.  It is from this source that I am dating this as 1950.
This is likely best as collectible as the records are not in great condition.  Someone has pencilled in "78 RPM" on the album jacket and the record labels, but these are not the traditional thick brittle shellac, but are more like thin flexible LPs.  One the records, which includes sides 3 and 6, looks pretty unplayable.  I've seen worse, but I would rate this record as "poor".  You can probably get play out of the other two records; I'd rate them in the G to VG range.  In both, the initial section bands look a bit rough but the records smooth out further into the middle and look clean.
The album itself has wear and a slight musty odor.  It was found in an estate sale in a basement - not a strong odor, but it is present.  The album remains securely bound - the photos show the condition of the front and back liner notes, and the front and back boards.  The edges and corners show wear.  I would think that some cleaning to remove the odor and some of the age-related soiling can breathe new life into the album.
Anyway, this seems to a rare collectible for Bob Hope fans!!
