Description
You are bidding on a 3-LP vinyl set for Casey Kasem's American Top 40 show broadcast 10/5/74, Top 10 Producers Of The 1970s, in Casey's words, "the men who literally make the hits." The show salutes the work and diverse production techniques of the most successful producers of the first half of that decade, among them Thom Bell, Snuff Garrett, Rick Hall, Norman Whitfield, James William Guercio, Tom Catalano--celebrated in Casey's telling for firing Neil Diamond as a songwriter(!) and later producing big hits for him--Richard Perry and Gus Dudgeon.
Among the artists played are Three Dog Night, Marvin Gaye, Carly Simon, James Brown, Carole King, Nilsson, The Temptations, Elton John, The Buckinghams, David Bowie, The Spinners, Helen Reddy, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Stylistics, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, Edwin Starr, Ringo Starr, The Four Tops, The Grass Roots, Mac Davis, Clarence Carter, Cher and, of course, Neil Diamond.
The set comes with a copy--not the original--of the cue sheets as shown. (Only the first page shown is an original.)
The vinyl is in NM condition with clean AT40 labels and cover AT40 box intact as shown. I listened to the whole show one more time in preparing this listing. If you are an AT40 vinyl collector, this special set is for you.
Please email me with questions before the close of auction. Good luck and enjoy your bidding.
