Description
Up for auction I have four Bob Marley & The Wailers LPs. All are vintage pressings; two Jamaican, one English and one American.
Overall condition is great, all records have been played over the years but looked after well. Expect vinyl surfaces show some general light marks and wear, nothing nasty though. Similarly, covers are nice and functional but also show some general wear from use and storage.
I would like to note, however, that the Exodus LP plays with some more noticeable crackle, most prominent at the beginning of the sides. This is balanced out though, by the Confrontation LP which looks to have not been played a great deal over the years and is in wonderful condition.
Recent reissues simply cannot compete with the sound of original records mastered straight from tape.
1. Exodus
Original first ever UK pressing from 1977 on Island Records, ILPS9498. Comes with original matching gold inner sleeve.
2. Confrontation
Original Jamaican issue on Rita Marley Music/Tuff Gong from 1983, BMW 9760. Extremely well mastered record.
3. Uprising
Original first US pressing from 1980 on Island Records, ILPS9596. Orange gradient sun logo on one side and solid yellow on the other side. Nice thick glossy sleeve.
4. Talkin' Blues
Jamaican issue from 1991 on Tuff Gong, DSR 1645/1646. Bit of a rare beast, and fairly sought after. Short interview excerpts of Bob followed by classic songs! "I Shot The Sheriff" is an extended live performance.
