General Notes: These are part of the Time/Life series cataloging the history of Classical Music. This was done along with EMI/Angel Records who provided all the included performances. Most of the performances are first rate and make a great introduction to the included pieces. Many are highly recommended given conductors such as Klemperer, Karajan, Giulini, Barbirolli, Boult, and Maazel recorded with EMI.

     These were part of a record collection that was owned by a Classical collector. He appeared to take good care of the records and many of them appear not to have been played much if at all. I have not listened to the records as it is a large collection but most of the records show little or no visual wear and none of the records have heavy scratches - the specific condition is noted if noticeable wear is present. All records have been lightly dusted but static electricity and low humidity from winter heating being what it is they will have attracted dust here and there. So for best playback please clean before listening and remember these are records - there will be some surface noise which will vary depending on your set-up.

     The cardboard cases show the most wear of anything. All are solid and protect the contents well but do show wear especially along the edges and spine area with the lettering faded/worn off on some. The inner black cases are mostly excellent with a few showing light wear. The sleeves are all in good or better condition except that one in each set has yellowing on one side.

     That brings us to the booklets. The music found in this collection is worth acquiring by itself but the booklets are the real find. They offer both an excellent introduction as well as a more in depth look at both the history of various Classical Periods as well as individual pieces. And some of the books have beautiful color pictures (some samples are shown). I considered keeping the booklets since they are quite unique but did not want to break up each set. The booklets are in very good to excellent condition.

Specific Notes: Composers include: Bach, Corelli, Couperin, Handel, Purcell, Rameau, Scarlatti, Telemann, Vivaldi, Brahms, Bruckner, Offenbach, Saint-Saens, Johann Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Berlioz, Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Verdi. Conductors/Performers include: Baker, Barbirolli, Giulini, Klemperer, Ludwig, and Menuhin. STL 142 - side 8 shows slight marks. STL 144 - sides 1, 4, and 6 show slight marks. SLT 152 - sides 1 and 2 show slight marks. Side 4/7 sleeve separating on one side.
