5 Cal Tjader Jazz 60s LPs - Cheesecake Demasiado Caliente, At The Blackhawk

These albums by Cal Tjader are a must for the serious jazz collector.  There are 5 albums in this auction, produced from 1960 to 1974. 

These albums are from an extensive collection of early jazz albums that I am selling for a Vermont client, so look back often to take advantage of a wonderful collection. 

I take a lot of pictures as they tend to show the condition better than I can describe them.  Be sure and check out the pictures and ask for more if there is something specific you want to see. 

1.    CAL TJADER - SATURDAY NIGHT/SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE BLACKHAWK - 1962 VERVE LP- V6-8459 - STEREO 

RECORD - graded Very Good - deep groove STEREO
has a few scratches and scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.  

labels are both in VG condition with marks around spindle hole, A side label has some paper loss around spindle hole (see pictures).   

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE A (WC  62-VGS-502) (V6-8459A) (1)

SIDE B  (WC  62-VGS-503) (V6-8459B) (2)   


COVER - graded Very Good 

Gatefold cover - laminate on cover in good condition - no writing or price sticker on the cover - no splits on seams- bottom of covers along the spine has a hole punched through - front and rear cover has recessed "X" top corner near opening - opening edge has some chipping on back cover (see pictures) - some bumping and chipping on corners (see pictures)

2.     CAL TJADER DEMASIADO CALIENTE - 1960/1974 - FANTASY 3309/8053 - STEREO - MISMATCHED LP/COVER SET

RECORD - graded VG - STEREO

the record is Fantasy 8053 with brown label used between 1974-1978

has some light scratches and scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.

labels are both in very good condition - minimal marks around spindle hole on side 1 (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (F1952-1A)

SIDE 2 (F-1953) (H) The H has been squiggled over, from production?

COVER - Graded Good to very good

Cover is the 1960 version for LP 3309

CHEESECAKE - No laminate - no writing on the cover - seams have no splits - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures) 
 

3.     CAL TJADER QUINTET LATINO - 1962 FANTASY 8079

RECORD - graded Good to Very Good 

has some light scratches And scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.

labels are both in very good condition - some light wear around spindle hole (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (F-2055 1A) (C1)

SIDE 2 (F-2056 1A) (S1) (B2)

COVER - Graded Very Good

plastic covering has shrunk back from opening,some tears in plastic (see pictures) -  no writing on cover - price stickers on front laminate - seams have no splits - some paper loss on lower right corner of front cover - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures) 

4.     CAL TJADER LIVE AT THE FUNKY QUARTERS  -  1970 - FANTASY 9409

RECORD - graded Good to Very Good 

has some light scratches and scuffs but they don't affect the listening experience.  

labels are both in very good condition - some wear around spindle holes (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE A (F9409-A-RF)

SIDE B (F9409-B)

COVER - Graded Good to Very Good

plastic covering has pulled back from opening - no writing on cover - price sticker on front cover - seams intact - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures)

5.   CAL TJADER AGUA DULCE - 1971 - FANTASY F-8416 - REISSUE

RECORD - graded very good

has some light scratches and scuffs but they don't effect the listening experience 

labels are both in very good condition - some light wear around spindle holes (see pictures)

The runout areas (deadwax) have the correct markings:

SIDE 1 (F8416A-1A) (A3) (FS3678DT ACRCRPSM#3)

SIDE 2 (F8416B-1A) (B2) (FS22378DT ACSCRPSM#1)

COVER - Graded Very Good

plastic covering has pulled back from open edge - no writing on cover - price sticker on front plastic - seams intact - some edge chipping and corner bumping (see pictures)

These albums play with no distortion, skipping or other major audible defects (except for album 5) light surface noise (dust/static) but never anything that interferes with the music quality.

CLEANING

I do a cautionary cleaning only, some light brushing with an approved audio carbon fiber brush and minimal use of audio cleaning solution if warranted. I do not professionally clean my records, I leave that up to the new owners.

GRADING

I utilize the industry standard for grading, Goldmine's, and I tend to grade conservatively.


PACKING
All records are shipped outside their covers, in new sleeves, packed between 2 sturdy corrugated cardboard flats and mailed in an approved record mailer.
