Description

                                            6 Schweppes Mixer Crates, Iconic 45rpm Storage. Modular Storage.
Made in 1973/5 by Burscough Super Wood Products, Ormskirk. Each crate is hotprinted with their logo and the date of manufacture month/year. These were supplied to Schweppes to transport their small bottled mixer range. In the 1960's the crate deposit (printed at manufacture) was 3/- but so many crates were being lost this was soon increased to 6/- by stapling an aluminium disc over the original amount. A substantial amount at the time. The crates were being appropriated primarily by mobile disco operators and vinyl collectors because they make ideal storage for 45rpm records. Each crate holds about 140 discs, is easy to carry as it has handles and they are stackable on their sides. These crates are part of my record storage system, have deliberately left the stapled on charge update discs as they are an integral part of "the image" to be as core as possible.
