Description
You are bidding on five specialist Wealdon label limited edition school and church organ LPs:
Those LPs with inserts, these include organ specifications. On later LPs, these were printed on the sleeve instead.
ROBERT MUNNS: London Organ Series: St. Giles Cripplegate (Wealden Studios, WS 111, 1971, LP, plus insert) The sleeve includes Mecolico stamp to indicate that fees had been paid for copyright music. The sleeve is VG with only light age darkening on the rear and a thumb crease on the front pulling it down from EX. The insert is EX. The record plays at EX.
ROBERT MUNNS: London Organ Series: The Dutch Church Austin Friars (Wealden Studios, WS 118, 1972, LP, plus insert) The sleeve is VG with only light age darkening on the rear and a couple of light thumb creases on the front pulling it down from EX. The insert is EX. The record plays at EX.
RICHARD POPPLEWELL: London Organ Series: St. Michael's Cornhill (Wealden Studios, WS 119, 1972, LP, plus insert) The sleeve includes Mecolico and BIEM stamps to indicate that fees had been paid for copyright music. The sleeve is VG with only light age darkening pulling down from EX. The insert is EX. The record plays at EX for the most part with some very light - and unobtrusive - background here and there.
ROBERT HUSSON: London Organ Series: St. George's Hanover Squarel (Wealden Studios, WS 128, 1974, LP) The sleeve is a superior VG and would be EX if not for some light ring wear on the rear plus a dedication to the original owner - see photos. The record plays at least at EX.
ERIC SUDDOCK & STEVEN HOLLAS: School And College Organ Series: The Organ Of Cheltenham College (Wealden Studios, WS 149, 1973, LP, plus insert) The sleeve includes a Mecolico stamp to indicate that fees had been paid for copyright music. The sleeve and insert are VG+, though an incorrect date on the rear sleeve is corrected in ink (other copies viewed all have this correction). The record plays at EX. In fact, no spindle marks and looks and sounds to have had minimal play.
Wealdon was a specialist label that concentrated on recording organs in church and (posh) school settings and records on the label do not crop up that often (especially not in this condition), what with presumably either being a subscription only label, or one that only advertised via mail order, other than records presumably also being marketed by the various churches where the recordings were made. If anyone can tell me anything about this company, I'd be very happy to know.
* * * * Records generally have hairline or other surface marks from removal from/insertion into sleeves - these are not mentioned unless causing audible noise. Records are play tested unless stated and any defects over and above what should be expected of the generic Record Collector grading are described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves, etc.
UK bidders please note that eBay now has a 'closed box' invoicing system, which means that I cannot manually update postage if you win multiple items. If you are bidding on multiple items, please message me to let me know, and then wait until all auctions have finished before paying, where evidently, eBay lets you combine postage.
Non-UK bidders please note that I use eBay's Global Shipping Programme, which means that I have no knowledge of what extra charges eBay makes based on your country's customs requirements, etc. Everything goes via eBay's distribution centre in Lichfield. All I get to see is your name and a reference number.
* * * * All items are from my own various collections and most have been in storage for 20+ years. Lockdowns (and various heart ops.) made me wonder why I have thousands of records that I will never choose to listen to again.
