Description
This lot contains six 10-inch 78 RPM records in the Norman Granz "Jazz at the Philharmonic" series. All six are shown in the first picture, then in groups or individually in the following order:
Pictures 2 and 3: Mercury # 11000 and 11001 - "Perdido", Parts 1, 2, 5 and 6 (Parts 3 and 4 missing). Band members listed as Illinois Jacquet, Flip Philips, Bill Harris, Howard McGhee, Jo Jones, Ray Brown and Hank Jones.
Pictures 4 and 5: Mercury # 11019 and 11020 - "Endido", Parts 1 through 4. Same line-up as "Perdido."
Pictures 6 and 7: Mercury # 11021 - "I Surrender, Dear", Parts 1 and 2. Same line-up as "Perdido."
Pictures 8 and 9: Clef # 101 - "JATP Blues", Parts 1 and 2. Band members listed as Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Willie Smith, Charlie Parker, Buck Clayton, Buddy Rich, Irving Ashby, Billy Hadnott and Kenny Kersey.
They all look to be in about VG condition, less shiny than they used to be, and with more visible surface wear than I like to see. I played them all on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there were no skips or repeats, and mostly only typical light levels of background noise, but a few noisier passages, as well as some scattered clicks and pops and ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please look closely at the pictures for any label damage, stickers or inscriptions.
