I have play graded this entire LP and it plays through beautifully. Original UK 1966 Mono withdrawn 606-1 1st pressing.

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'the Gramophone Co..' worded rim texts.

The side 2 label carries the 'Dr. Robert' spelling error and side 1 shows the 'KT' purchase tax code.

Matrix and Stampers.

The exact story behind why the wrong track came to be issued on such a seminal record is not entirely clear as its existence only came to light in the 1980’s. However it would appear that John Lennon had decided (with the benefit of hindsight and it would appear without the knowledge of George Martin) to replace ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ with an altogether different mix. For those collectors who are unaware, the track as it appears on this 606-1 pressing is significantly different to the one which was issued on all later copies of the album. The ‘seagull’ sounds are more intense and random, the track is longer and there is piano playing at the end of the track.

The song was seen by Lennon as a ‘ground breaking’ piece of music, so it is understandable why he went to such lengths to have the track replaced on all later versions of the album.

Grading

Vinyl - VG+ (plays a close EX)

Vinyl plays through superbly with loud and punchy audio un-interrupted by any prolonged hiss/crackle/clicking or popping. Visually I would grade it at VG+, there are some light hairlines each side but after listening through the entire LP I can assure you there are no major defects or any prolonged issues that affect the audio in any major way. A few random and sporadic clicks can be heard here or there but nothing loud or nasty/repetitive at all. Some light "static" background noise between tracks as expected like on most 60's vinyls but no nasty hiss or crackle. Entirely play graded and with great audio throughout. A pleasure to listen to.

Sleeve - EX

Front laminated and cardboard flip back sleeve has no rips, writing or seem splits. A couple of soft laminate creases but no cracking or lifting. The back has no rips to the flip back flaps and all text is clear and legible. Straight spine and edges with mild corner wear. Garrod and Lofthouse flip back sleeve.

Labels - VG

No writing or rips. A little wear around central hole. KT tax stamp on A-Side label. Some faint spindle lines each side.
