BUDDY KNOX
7” 4x Track EP 45rpm w/ picture sleeve
….self-titled (with Party Doll) …
1958 Australian Only issue
Roulette Label # REP105
CONDITION
VINYL : a nice little spinner with no dramatic pops and no skips / certainly a few marks on both sides however it plays along fine with still a very reasonable clean sound / sound-wise I’d give this a VGLABELS :- owners name on B side only / otherwise clean
PICTURE SLEEVE :- original picture sleeve in good condition / fold-back rear flap style / some age-wear as you’d expect however heaps better than the odd one or two I’ve seen previously / an owners name at top right corner on front …no other writing / the spine is worn a little but again no splits / a touch of ring-wear on the front only ….overall quite pleasing really.
DESCRIPTION
A more than acceptable Australian Only EP from famed US rockabilly singer Buddy Knox. This Aussie issue features two different tracks from its’ overseas counterpart making it a nice collectable for rockabilly fans.In 1957 "Party Doll" was released on the Roulette label in the US and went to No.1 on the Cash Box magazine music chart. This success was followed by "Rock Your Little Baby To Sleep", a No.17 hit, and "Hula Love", a No.9 hit. While he never achieved the same level of artistic success as Holly or Orbison, Buddy Knox enjoyed a long career in music. For his pioneering contribution, Knox was elected to the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and "Party Doll" was voted one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
A very difficult EP to find these days in any sort of playable condition
