CONDITION
VINYL :- Terrific / shiny throughout and tracks through perfectly / some odd very light marks only / superb crisp and clean sound / no pops or skips / no lead in-out noise and rated close enough to EX.LABELS :- Clean
SLEEVE :- Sweet Peach releases came in a plain white cover. This one is in excellent condition.
DESCRIPTION
A very tidy OZ pressing of this 1969 release and the 5th ever single on the independent Sweet Peach label.The Adelaide-based Sweet Peach label was established by producer Jimmy Stewart and musician Doug Ashdown. During its short lifespan of about three years it was quite enterprising with around forty singles, one EP, two "maxi-singles" and ten LPs identified to date.
The A-side is a stndard cover of the Buddy Holly classic BUT the B-side ‘Jam Jar’ is the real sleeper here.
Penned by Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones with drummer Clem Cattini this hard edged blues-rock number was (I gather) first performed in a jam session pre-Led Zeppelin days (though there certainly is "that" familiar trademark guitar sound of Page here) and is simply awesome….in fact you couldn’t imagine the coupling of 2 songs from more different genres than we have here on this single.
A wonderful little gem of a 45 that no doubt is an incredibly rare find.
