Description

Offered is a terrific twelve-inch 78 RPM single from 1939, Blue Note 2 Boogie Woogie Stomp and Boogie Woogie Blues, by legendary pianist Albert Ammons. This is a rare pink-label prototype...According to legend (retold on a Blue Note sleeve in the 1980s), Alfred Lyon pressed only fifty copies each of the first two (pink & black) Blue Note records and waited for the orders to trickle in. They evidently sold quickly, for these sides (and many more to come) were quickly repressed with the much more common blue and white labels.

For a 78 that's over 70 years old, it's in super condition...a few minor pops are noticeable, but nothing serious. Shellac looks gorgeous. The original owner took good care of it.

You can hear both sides at

These are raw, "real-time" transfers with no electronic tampering whatsoever. What you hear is what you'll get.

IMPORTANT: Do not pay until you receive an invoice.

Buyer pays exact mailing charges shipped anywhere in the Continental U.S.A. (Priority or Media Mail, your choice) or overseas (your choice of surface or air delivery) plus a modest $3.00 packing charge. Insurance is HIGHLY recommended.

Good luck, and thanks for bidding.
