Description

GERRY RAFFERTY was part of Stealers Wheel and he had a big record w/STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU--however, that was in 1972 and things probably did not look that promising for a few years.  He came back very strong in 1978 w/the album "City To City" and the hit songs BAKER STREET and RIGHT DOWN THE LINE.  He managed to do this when the kind of music he was making was sort of going out of fashion.  Rafferty managed to have a few more hits but as the '70's turned into the '80's, things were changing too much in the music business for an artist like him to have continued success.                                                                                                         Gerry Rafferty 1978 U.S. LP "CITY TO CITY" on the UNITED ARTISTS label--this is an ORIGINAL Pressing (UA-LA840-H) on the yellow and red swirl UA label--the album has a number of Beatles--influenced songs.  BAKER STREET features a great melody and a saxophone "hook" that helped make it the big record that it was.  The saxophone on this tune is played by Raphael Ravenscroft.
