Here is another rare disc from the small La Voix du Maghrib label. This piece is heavily inspired by AITA music with heavy bassy drums and wicked female vocals. There is a double-bass!, keman, darbuka in the group backing up Haja Hamdaouia, who was from the Darb Sultan quarter of Casablanca and a popular representative of the Aita Marsawiya tradition, which used to be considered unethical immoral brothel music, but gained wider popular acceptance, partly due to Haja Hamdaouia herself. 

This record is from the 50’s, the sound quality is very good.

 

Record is a VG+. It plays EX- actually, but there are some visible surface marks which do not affect playback, and a couple light hairline scratches which are not really audible either. The labels are both EX. Listen to the sound clip.
