ATTENTION 78 RPM COLLECTORSI have uncovered several thousand extremely rare 78 RPM records. These came from a record store that closed sometime in the 1960's, near Clarksburg, WV. At that time, the pre-war & post-war Negro Blues and early Jazz were picked out, by a British collector. The remainder of this collection is all pre-war Hillbilly Blues, Hillbilly Folk, Western Swing, Country Blues, Old Tyme, Fiddle Waltz's, Bluegrass, String Band, Cowboy, Yodel and Southern regional singers.
Most appear E- to E+. Only a few are "V" condition. All 78's have had a light professional cleaning, with soap & water, but are not scrubbed. Every single one has been play tested on a old tube Fisher-player with a modern Shure M78 needle. The sound is astonishing. Most will have the original sleeves, but the condition of the sleeves are less than satisfactory, they are disintergrating! Sleeves that have totally crumbled into nothing, have been replaced with a modern sleeve. Any 78's with warps, chips, label defects, cracks, or in badly damaged condition I have been put aside and will not be listed. I prefer to list shellac 78's only in the most pristine condition. I normally do not list 78's unless they are extremely rare, and in top condition. So for the next few months, besides the terrific 45's and LP's I have been offering, these 78's will compliment and enhance any collection. Most possibly, some of these have never been offered for sale in the last 20 years. If you look at this collection and think I may have a particular 78 I might have put aside, please ask, the lesser condition ones I will sell, for a bargain price. I will attempt to list as many as possible with sound files, but it is very time consuming to do that, so if you want to hear a MP3 sound file, I will send you one, or several if you wish. This is a truly historic collection of some of the most important Americana music of all time. Please bid with confidence, and don't lose out. This is an amazing collection.
78 RECORD GRADING:
E+ A choice copy with no wear whatsoever.
E Excellent. Virtually no trace of groove wear with only
minimal traces of use and handling.
E- An above average record with a slight degree of groove wear,
but not enough to seriously detract from its audio quality.
V+ Obviously well played, but still enjoyable. Noticeable
graying in the grooves.
