For Les Paul collectors here is a little known rarity on Detroit's small, poorly distributed Citation label. Paul had been on Capitol since 1948, but at a Detroit Les Paul - Mary Ford nightclub booking in 1951 the duo was approached by Citation record label owner / songwriter Lou Parker who coaxed them into recording two of his compositions. They complied, and the results were Mary Ford vocal ballads with Les Paul's characteristic guitar overdubbings. It is not known whether Paul knew of this release and it's possible these recordings were made as a favor to Parker, who wined and dined the couple over several nights. Released as by The Humdingers, Billboard's review stated: "Anonymous thrush turns in a fine job. She's backed mostly by an electric guitar which rambles all around the tune". Glossy with light scuffing.
