CHEIKH EL AFRIT - Polyphon 46103
"Ya Nas Ahmelt"
A killer track from maestro Cheikh el Afrit (1897-1939), whose real name was Issim Israel Rozzio, from the Jewish quarter of Tunis..
he often played with oud player Maurice Benois, and violin player Albert Arbitol, who is probably playing on this disc.
Disc: VG+ there are scuffs and surface marks, but the disc plays well indeed. there is of course some surface noise, and perhaps an occasional stressed groove. Listen to the clip, but keep in mind that I am still getting accustomed to new gear after relocating, and I am pretty sure you can get better sound out of these 78s...
Labels: VG+ both labels are in pretty good shape, some slight fading, but still legible

*sound clips are from the exact same record copy that is being auctioned. They are random selections and include a bit from each side. they are straight transfers, with no restoration, and a pretty flat EQ (pre-RIAA).... BUT I am still getting used to new equipment so you can probably get better sound out of the 78s listed this week....
