Welcome to Shellac Shack select recordings, featuring high quality, often rare, blues, country, rockabilly, R&B, boogie-woogie and jazz 78 rpm records, from the 20’s to the 50’s. Just beginning as a seller, but a collector for many years. Plan to offer the level of service and satisfaction that I have enjoyed from the most principled sellers, in the past.
Artist: Buell Kazee
Recorded / Released: 1927
Titles and Condition:
Side A: Roll On John, E Side B: John Hardy, E+
Description:
This is the first recording of 27 year old Buell Kazee, shortly after Dock Bogg’s first 1927 recordings on Brunswick. Clear vocal & crisp banjo playing iconic songs - John Hardy has been recorded by many performers since. Buell was included in Harry Smith’s Anthology of American Folk Music. FREE Priority Mail shipping.
The condition of this record is excellent with mirror luster, minimally played, perfectly clear and loud throughout. Side A is downgraded to E only because of a visible 1/2”scratch that is mainly in the center unrecorded portion of the disc. Otherwise a virtually perfect copy.
Offered in a good, but worn, original sleeve
Grading is VJM (Vintage Jazz Market, based on visual and play grading, using a Shure cartridge with 78 stylus.
N or N- = Unplayed, like new (category not used to avoid making unprovable claims)
E+ = A perfect copy with only minor signs of previous playing
E = Shiny! Minimal, slight signs of wear, such as small sleeve scuffs or a light scratch.
E- = Still shiny, minor groove wear, light scratches. Plays well, and an above average copy.
V+ = Average, even wear. Duller finish with scuffs and scratches, still plays well.
V = Moderate wear, playable, with surface noise and scratches audible.
V- = Playable, but with distortion in loud passages, surface noise & scratches intrusive.
G+ = Plays through.
G = Looks OK at a distance.
P = Resembles a record.
