Description
Rare 10” 78rpm shellac jazz disk of Fred and Adele Astaire accompanied by George Gershwin at the piano: I’d Rather Charleston / Hang On To Me. Both songs from the 1924 broadway musical “Lady, Be Good”. Columbia label, catalogue number 3970.
The disk is in EX condition with a great shine and no visible marks or scratches. Both sides play through very well with just the usual surface noise but there is an occasionally, brief, feint distortion noticeable as is often the case with disks of this age, but nothing too distracting. Bright, clean labels (no writing) and little sign of spindle wear.
Supplied in a robust stitched card sleeve branded “S H Bryant – The Gramophone House” and in very good condition with no splits, no tears and no writing.
NOTE: Test played on specialist hi-fi equipment with light weight pick-up, not steel needle.
