Ethel Merman's First Released Record ! - Scarce Depression Era 78rpm Victor 24145 Recorded September 1932 "I've Gotta Right To Sing The Blues" / "Satan's Little Lamb"
For her first commercial recording session, during an especially poor time for the recording industry, Victor apparently wasn't at all sure what to do with Ethel, so they recorded 2 "hotter" rhythm numbers (tese titles) and 2 ballad type selections (the other record is listed separately among My Other Items). For this record, 2 Harold Arlen numbers were chosen, with one of them including early Johnny Mercer work. She didn't last long with Victor... around the time this record was released she had already gone over to Brunswick Records!
