Description
This lot contains eight 12-inch 33 RPM compilation LP's of early jazz, most of it originally recorded in the 1920's and 1930's. They all showed up for the first picture, then they are pictured individually in the following order:

Byg # 529087 -- "Archive of Jazz Volume 37 - Early Dixieland Bands" (includes tracks by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band on one side and Ladd's Black Aces on the other). *
(* The two Byg records are made in France.)
Folkways # FP-57 -- "Jazz Volume 3" (comes with a 4-page booklet and includes tracks by King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band, New Orleans Wanderers, Kid Rena's Band, Dallas Jug Band, Bunk Johnson's Original Superior Band, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, New Orleans Rhythm Kings, Red Onion Jazz Babies and Johnny Dodds Orchestra).
Harrison Records # HR-VI -- "Fourteen Hot Jazz Hot Dance Sides, 1928-1934" (includes tracks by Glen Gray's Casa Loma Orchestra, Mills' Merry Makers, Mack Rogers Orchestra, Ten Freshmen, Hollywood Dance Orchestra, Jack Pettis Pets, Walter Barnes Royal Creolians, Dixie Dance Demons and others).
Joker # SM-3095 -- "La Storia del Jazz - New Orleans Legends" (made in Italy, includes tracks by Kid Rena's Delta Jazz Band, Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band and Bunk Johnson and his New Orleans Band).
Columbia Jazz Masterpieces # CJ-40833 -- "The 1930's - Small Combos" (includes tracks by the Chocolate Dandies, Rhythmakers, Jones-Smith, Inc., the Gotham Stompers, and combos led by Jack Purvis, Henry Allen, Wingy Manone, Red Norvo, Stuff Smith, Teddy Wilson, Roy Eldridge, Cootie Williams, Frank Newton, Sidney Bechet, Chu Berry and John Kirby).
New World Records # NW-250 -- "Little Club Jazz - Small Groups in the 30's" (gatefold cover with 4-page booklet bound in. Includes tracks by the Harlem Footwarmers, Candy and Coco, Roly's Tap-Room Gang and combos led by Henry Allen, Joe Venuti, Eddie South, Gene Gifford, Putney Dandridge, Louis Prima, Stuff Smith, Teddy Wilson, Emilio Caceres, Joe Marsala, Bob Howard, Cootie Williams and John Kirby).
Six of the eight records look to be somewhere between VG+ and almost unplayed condition, still beautifully shiny, and with hardly any visible surface wear of any significance. Those six all play through fine on my Audio-Technica turntable, with no skips or jumps, but some audible background noise, most of which appears to be transferred from the original recordings.
So let's move on to the other two. "Archive of Jazz Volume 37" is in similar condition to the first six apart from a nasty scratch across the last two tracks of Side 2, causing a noticeable ticking and a couple of forward skips. The Folkways LP is in generally inferior condition, with some visible scuffs and scratches, and it plays with more background noise and a few forward skips (no repeats).
Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
Most of the covers are in solid and functional condition, with the seams all intact. The two that fail the intact seam test are the Folkways and the New World, each of which has one seam partially split. Please also check the pictures for punch holes and other label damage, including scuffs and stains and stickers and inscriptions or underlinings. The inner sleeves are all either white paper or clear plastic.
International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges. We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws. COMBINED SHIPPING: See our seller list for other interesting and unusual items, in fact bid on several and you might save on shipping and handling. If you buy multiple items, and if it's feasible and cost-effective for us to ship the items together, we will gladly consider requests to combine shipping at a reduced cost. Just e-mail us, and we can provide combined shipping cost estimates on a case-by-case basis. Depending on weight and other considerations, we typically offer full shipping rate for the first item, then 50 cents or $1.00 per item. And if you are purchasing multiple items, please make the payment as a single payment, rather than trying to pay for each item separately. Oh, and this may sound obvious, but we can't reduce the shipping charges for items on which we offer free shipping.
SHIPPING COSTS: If the eBay auto-calculator is not responding, or if you think our shipping costs are too high, please contact us prior to bidding to determine your shipping options and costs. Repeat, prior to bidding, please.
FEEDBACK: Because of abuses we've experienced in the past, we have totally given up on the eBay feedback system, so we neither give nor expect feedback. Please, therefore, do not contact us after the auction asking us to leave feedback. If you ever have a problem with an item you purchase from us, please contact us directly about it before giving negative feedback or seller ratings, and especially before invoking eBay's dreaded Grand Tribunal in processes like "Return Requests" or "Opening an Item Not as Described Case." No one is perfect, and we occasionally mis-describe something, or an item arrives late or gets damaged in the mail, but we are always quick to respond to a problem and set it straight in the most mutually agreeable way.
