Description
A particularly nice capstan candlestick with thin everted moldings to top and bottom of socket. With a slightly higher mound in the center of the drip pan and an extra molding at the bottom of the socket section, a short
"stem" is created and the stick does not appear "dumpy" as sometimes happens when a heavily bottomed socket sits on a flat or nearly flat drip pan. I'm not sure if the photo shows it, but the drip pan has a satiny finish due to the 450+ years of wax being scraped off. There is some wear apparent too on the flare of the base, where excess was dripped over. The only "damages" are a slight downward bend of the drip pan along 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch, and a smaller one on the edge of the base. There is a small nick at the bottom right of the aperture on the socket but that was probably caused by the file when the aperature was cut out.
