A Jimmy Raney Prestige 7089 mono LP. Original Deep groove pressing with yellow fireworks label,  446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C. address, and RVG on the trail-off wax.  Sidemen are Hall Overton, Teddy Kotick, Art Mardigan, John Wilson, and Nick Stabulas. Tunes are: Spring is Here\One More For The Mode\What's New\Tomorrow, Fairly Cloudy\A Foggy Day\Cross Your Heart\Someone To Watch Over Me\You Don't Know What Love Is.

Condition - Grading is Visual Under Bright Light

Cover is a nice VG+. The front cover graphics are subtle and beautiful. There is a small flaw under the "A" that appears to be a printing flaw. A touch of wear on the corners, the upper right corner has a 1/4 inch split and the lower right corner is dinged. The printing on the edge is sharp and clear. Seams are otherwise nice with no splits. The back cover slick shows some light age toning aong the right edge but is pretty bright and clean overall. "JAZZ stamp in purple on the lower right edge. "Printed and Packaged by GEM Albums, Inc. N.Y." on the bottom right corner. A very pretty cover despite the small flaws.

LP is a nice glossy VG+ with some light sleeve wear and a few faint scuffs and hairlines. The Side A label has an address sticker (I covered this up with a piece of paper for privacy) but labels are otherwise beautiful with a few faint marks visible under bright angled light. A very pretty example of this rare and desirable early Prestige.

Overall not perfect or NM but a nice copy of a rare jazz LP. This copy should make some collector very happy. Check out my other auctions for more rare and interesting records. Winning auctions may be combined to save postage cost. Check out my feedback for results of recent rare record auctions.

Grading

Grading is SS (still sealed), NM, VG+, VG. The myriad of grading systems on Ebay is a good indicator of the subjective nature of grading. In my opinion NM is close to perfect with one or two very minor flaws, VG+ is above average and collectable and VG is average used condition but probably the best choice for playing. I'm a collector and try to describe LPs as accurately as possible, the way I would want them described to me. The pictures should at least give a good indication of the condition of the covers and labels. Please see my seller feedback for comments on my grading. If you don't agree with how I'm calling a record that is your privilege but with all respect please don't bid.
