TELEVISON CHRISTMAS
VINYL PROMO 78rpm
Here’s a television & Christmas single that was NEVER available to the public to purchase, it was only released as a limited edition promo, and only on 78rpm. Tucked inside the sleeve is a reproduction of the original letter that came with this rare record. It says:
November 15, 1950 : Here is a brand new Mindy Carson recording, “ I Want A Television Christmas,” that’s timely, topical, and tuneful.
One side is extra nice for the kids among your listeners with bells and celeste, in the traditional Christmas toy shop manner. The other side is the same tune, done in a more sophisticated fashion, designed for more adult listening.
Mindy recorded this number just a couple of days ago here in New York and RCA Victor did an overnight rush job of making special pressings for us so we could get it to you ahead of time.
Sincerely – American Television Dealers & Manufactures (Advertising Director).
This a VINYL 78rpm which is a wonderful listening experience. For a short while (1949-1954) about the time that RCA introduced the vinyl 45rpm, they pressed up some similar vinyl 78rpms for radio stations. Indeed, they sounded far superior to the old shellac version, and were quite unbreakable.
CONDITION: glorious E+ condition (NMint) with clean labels.
