Description
This extremely rare unofficial release features jazz legend Dave Brubeck and his quartet including Paul Desmond in a live performance entitled "A University Listens to Dave Brubeck". This recording was made at a private performance presented by the Penn State Jazz Club and recorded March 18, 1955 at Recreation Hall on the campus of the Pennsylvania State University. This LP was available for Members Only as noted on the labels.
The 12" LP was pressed on heavy translucent red vinyl and comes in a simple cardboard sleeve. The original "rice paper" inner sleeve is included along with a new archival quality liner to better protect this disc. The record is in very good (VG) condition, and the sleeve is also in very good (VG) condition, albeit the top is split across the majority of the length and there is also some splitting along the bottom edge. Please see the detailed photos included in this listing. The catalog number on the labels is F8OP and the markings in the runouts read as:
SIDE 1: F8 0P7083-1 A1 R SIDE 2: F8 0P7084-1 A1 R

I played both sides of this vintage LP completely through on my audio-technica AT-LP60XBT turntable without issues. There is some surface noise, light ticks and crackle audible during quieter portions of songs. Overall it doesn’t fully distract from enjoying this historical performance.
