Description
ABBA Greatest Hits Vol. 2 vinyl LP, Atlantic SD 16009, original 1979 sealed promo copy. Still in shrinkwrap with notch in lower left jacket corner indicating promo copy. Don't know if the record label is a promo label or not since the album is still sealed.
Promo copies can be different from stock, or commercially released, pressings in that they may have a completely different label.
Promo pressings are usually pressed before the commercial copies, in order to get them to the radio stations and record stores prior to the commercial release date. That means that the promo pressings are among the first records pressed from the stampers for a particular release, which generally means they may sound better than their stock counterparts.
Promo copies are desirable to collectors and audiophiles simply because they often sound better.
