ABBA

“VOULEZ-VOUS”

CHIQUITITA (IN SPANISH)

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original RCA Victor Records very first STEREO press released in Chile in 1979 by RCA Records, made and distributed by Industria De Radio Y Televisión S.A. Records (IRT Records), licensed from Polar Music International AB, with traditional black/silver labels, white “RCA Victor” and colored dog logo, with original Swedish catalog number POLS-292, with hand etched matrix numbers POLS-292-A MSM-C in Side A and POLS-292-B MSM-C in Side B. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact date of pressing, “11-5-79” (May 5th of 1979), so this record is part of the first run, most of copies found in Chile have later dates, mainly June, but here you have the chance to own one of the earliest copies pressed in Chile!!! So, yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile and a MUST for ABBA collectors, fans and lovers!!!

“VOULEZ-VOUS” was originally released in April 23th of 1979 and only after some weeks, in May, we got it here in Chile and like many cases of that period with and UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is a thin non-laminated flipback cover made with a single piece of cardboard folded in the middle, with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover at top and bottom edges. Front and back cover keep strictly the original artwork, with the only differences that in Chilean front cover below the name of the band at top left corner it’s written with orange lettering “CHIQUITITA (EN ESPAÑOL)” [CHIQUITITA (In Spanish)] and in back cover at bottom left corner it’s an orange box informing the album is available “ALSO IN CASSETTE”. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with the exception of “CHIQUITITA” (originally with the title in Spanish). In Chile, like in other Latin American countries, this album was released with the Spanish-sung version of “CHIQUITITA”. So, here you have the chance to own this great album by ABBA with UNIQUE COVER, “CHIQUITITA” sung in Spanish and with the date of pressing etched in the deadwax, May 11th of 1979, which makes this copy one of the very first run!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition both the front and back cover, clean and clear, no missing parts, no blemishes, no rips, moderate wear, more evident in all edges and corners, with a 1 inch seam split in the spine, some creases and tears, light ring marks and a big writing in front and back covers, the name of the radio station which originally owned this record “RADIO NUEVO MUNDO”. The record is in superb VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with soft scuffs and hairlines and some very light scratches hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play. Labels on both sides are in VG or VG+ condition, clean and clear, with the name of the radio station written in both sides but hard to see, with some tears and spindle hole wear and in Side A someone painted with black pen a little section above the name of “ABBA” to hide some writing or tear too. The sound is in absolute EX- or EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clear, no background noise at all (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), only some soft crackles and light occasional crackles, more evident in the silent parts between songs and in songs “If It Wasn’t For The Nights” and the beginning of “Chiquitita”, which don’t cause major distraction form the great sound this album still keep from the beginning to the end. Overall, a 40 years old record which has the evidence to have been played with great care even though for sure it’s not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but the level of rarity, specially because this copy which was pressed early May of 1979, makes it a MUST TO HAVE no matter the condition, but of course, as you can see in the pictures, this copy won’t disappoint anyone. And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER and the Spanish-sung version of “Chiquitita”!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
