Description
What a specimen! This incredible slab is the last grab for infinity by the fire-breathing duo of free jazz giant Abe Kaoru and skin mangler Sabu Toyozumi. Recorded right at the very end of Kaoru's life this set has it all in spades; post-ayler scathing tenor lines, battalion rattle percussion, group satori-lift, eternity breathing, ma-spacing and primordial reed cries. Reminiscent of the monumental Rashied Ali duos (Coltrane and Frank Lowe) but filled with an anguish and coldness that takes this recording into another, all-together more inter-emotional space. A hands-down classic of free jazz, japanese or otherwise, and a precedent of everything void gobbling, from Keiji Haino to Mats Gustafsson. Doesn't hurt that it sits on your turntable like a lsd-vortex either.
LP and cover are MINT. This record is my second copy and has never been played.
