Artist: THE ACCENTS, Vocal by DAVID GATES

Label: PERSPECTIVE. Label is pale green with dark green text. Catalog number is 121057500.
Year: 1957.
Note: This is first single release featuring David Gates, who wrote both sides. Gates subsequently achieved fame with his group BREAD, and penned many hit songs recorded by others. For more info about David Gates, please click on the following link:

Condition: Nice VG to VG+ with nearly 100% of original gloss remaining, plays closer to VG+. Has some general scuffing and several minor hairlines, but no serious marks or problems. Fidelity is very decent as you can hear in the accompanying sound clips. Labels have some writing (index numbers written in pencil) but otherwise are nice.

On Sep-25-09 at 12:03:01 PDT, seller added the following information:I received the following information via email from an eBay member in the Tulsa, area, and think it might be helpful to anyone considering bidding on this record:
"The A-side of this record is Jo-Baby; Gates wrote it to woo-away a cheerleader, a year younger at another high school, from her boyfriend. It worked. David and Jo Rita are still married to this day. The B-side, Lovin' At Night, was the hit; it reached #1 on several Oklahoma-area charts and was picked up by a regional label, Robbins Records, and did very well regionally. David was a high school senior when he recorded this in 1957. The Accents had 3 additional members, the most interesting one being his buddy playing the piano, who was a junior at the same Tulsa high school. Listen to the piano break about half-way through Lovin' At Night...his name was Russell Bridges then, but he's now known as Leon Russell. Only 500 copies of this record were pressed."
