AC/DC : For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) A / B 1st UK Press Atlantic w/ Embossed Cover 1981
I recently purchased a stunning collection of AC/DC albums and four of them I am listing for this auction. They have all been preserved so well.
This first pressing is another stunning example of a vinyl / cover that has been so well preserved over the last 45 years. In a sealed vault I would not be surprised! The clarity, power and depth of the audio is phenomenal and as always I have played every track in full. Sonically it is as 'good as new' which I know is a bold statement to make but I am confident in my grading 'techniques' is the best way of putting it. Put simply there is no intrusion whatsoever, the clarity of sound is outstanding like I say. The vinyl itself is visually stunning and looks like it has never been played. If it has been it has always been very carefully handled that's for sure. Another FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing...
As stated the embossed gatefold is in lovely condition with barely any wear, it is certainly the best I have ever seen. The original plain white die-cut inner is also extremely clean with very little wear. As per the first pressing it has the A / B matrix and there is no embossed Warner (WB) logo on the back cover.

Visual description
The vinyl is stunning and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. When looking under a bright light I can find no fault, a handful of small ultra faint hairlines that is all and even they are difficult to find! There is clearly no groove or surface wear and the Atlantic labels are pristine with no spindle wear. A couple of specks on the S1 one so maybe played once or twice at most in my opinion. This is a stunning example.
Play Grading
The run in on S1 is unbelievably clean and the intro on 'For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)' is exactly the same with no background at all. Rudd's thundering sound on the drums! Johnson's opening vocal section is so strong and clear and the chorus is 'as new' also. This is a stunning version and it continues in the same precise way. The productions levels are so high, despite the issues they had with Lange on this album, and the depth and resonance of the audio is incredible. The staccato section is superb and the closing section is outstanding! A Mint start to the album - a sonic masterpiece! 'Put The Finger On You' rocks out loud and true with no interference and no distortion. A high octane number even by their standards and yet sonically it has lost nothing. Mint
Never one to shy away from innuendo 'Let's Get It Up' again plays with that familiar dynamic, raw power. Every vocal and instrumental section play with imperious quality and there is not so much as a dust tick to be heard. Another Mint track.
Johnson is really stretching his voice on this album and 'Inject The Venom' is a prime example of that. The stop / start intro plays with sublime quality - even the silent bits have no background and from then onwards it could not play any better. The high powered choruses are so strong and deep and again there is no distortion. Mint
'Snowballed' has to be the loudest track on the side so you'd think being the final track on the side the 'sound' might be affected in some way. I have to say I am very very impressed with the clarity and definition! There is no obvious inner groove distortion and I do wonder if this record has ever been played before. I noticed just one barely audible static and this has to grade as Mint- at the very least. Love the ending!

The intro on 'Evil Walks' plays perfectly and Johnson's opening vocal section is just as impressive. The first chorus is faultless and it continues to play with genuine quality. I think there's a hint of Maiden on this album which is no bad thing. The mid instrumental is 'as new' as is the 'quieter' bass section that follows and the remainder has no intrusion. This is Mint from start to finish.
The following three tracks 'C.O.D.', 'Breaking The Rules' and 'Night Of The Long Knives' all play to the highest standard possible. There is no need to go into too much detail! The clarity, power and definition of the audio is second to none and all sound like they have never been on a turntable before. They all grade as Mint you will not be surprised to hear.
The intro on 'Spellbound' has no intrusion and that applies to the rest of the track. There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static and there is hardly any inner groove distortion either. It's another high powered number and again for a final track the audio quality has really stood the test of time so well. A superb Mint- finish to this classic album.
The Embossed Cover & Inner Sleeve
The embossed gatefold is in lovely condition with barely any wear. The edges are exceptionally clean and the wide spine is 'as new' really. There is a minor touch of rubbing on the corners but honestly it is so so minimal and the opening edge is pristine. The front cover is stunning and has only a couple of very small creases by the bottom corners. The back cover is very similar with just an added 'circle' of discolouration where there must have been a sticker. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and I believe a Near Mint- grade is deserved here.
The plain white die-cut inner sleeve has also been looked after very well and has no side splits or tears and very little creasing. It just has a very thin line of age related fading / browning down one edge.

Postage & Packaging
I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
