Acetate one sided 10"--4 tracks 1958.
Tracks are--1-Love me or leave me. 2-Flamingo. 3-Thelonius intent take one. 4-Thelonius intent take two.
1958 UK Ultra rare item. From the private collection of the late British jazz legend Neil Ardley. This is a one off ultra special item. The only copy on the planet, their simply are no others at all. I purchased the entire collection of Neil Ardleys home private library after his death. You may have seen me list past items from the same lot.
Recorded by and features Neil Ardley, The trio features--Seth Richards-piano. Tony Hooper-drums. Bill Pickford-bass. Colin Baron Molyneux-guitar. Roger Watson-drums.
Tracks one and two recorded in the MCR victoria rooms Bristol 1-1.30pm 22nd Oct 1958. Track 3 and 4 recorded in the kitchen of number 4 Codrington place, Clifton, Bristol on 15th Nov 1958. (this info is hand written by Neil on reverse of sleeve (see pics). Hand made cover design is by Roger Watson. Looks like a proof for Graph records to approve before release. I believe that the record was never released. Carries the sticker--A transcription from tape by the record centre 5 Denmark street Bristol.
Sleeve is clean with printed paper illustration pasted over brown die cut industry sleeve. Label displays Graph acetate recordings, Stans record centre 5 Denmark st Bristol. I have played the disc once, and it sounds great. A privilege to hear a very early piece of British Jazz history.
You will never find this one again. Its the only copy, and its here for sale for the ultimate collector. No reserve to generate interest. See my other acetate featuring Neil Ardley this week. Also another Colin Molyneux acetate on my auction at the moment. All of the records from the Ardley estate had Neil himself either playing, and or arranging or producing / recording the project. Colin Molyneux was a British guitarist and little known. He plays beautifully on these recordings and who knows what became of him.
