MOTHERLAND Lp by ADASA. Original US private pressing on KOLIMAMA RECORDS label, from 1978. Hybrid, afro disco - afro beat - soulful highlife - jazz and funk session recorded by Ghanaian and American musicians at the Sound Height Studio, Brooklyn, New York. Features the tropical funky groove of JUNGLE BOAT that lasts nearly 7min ;) Great for DJs with crashing, spiritual jazz introduction into infectious rhythms with breezy flute solos / boogie bassline wah wah and percussion breaks. Groovy Fela Kuti-esque keyboard solos sneak into the mix during the final phase of this dancefloor jam too. OZI-OZA (STREET TALK) is the other standout tune we have included on our soundclip that comes across like a fusion of afro-beat and jazzy highlife. The music gets better and better as the track progresses with a couple of short-but-sweet (and looped) drum and conga breaks a la Joey Negro / Dimitri From Paris style compilations. An obscure Lp produced and exclusively distributed by drummer / percussionist, Benny Kyei and vocalist, Joss Aikins of Broadway Dance Band infamy. This item was previously sealed, opened and played once for the recording of our soundclip so is in lovely condition. Beautiful sleeve artwork showing the group (and some family members) in funky fashions of the period :) Rare Lp!!! Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in shiny M- condition with some mini, faded old pressing residue cum age marks from storage. Some light surface noises. Loud production sound. Item was previously sealed, opened and played once for the recording of our soundclip. The card sleeve with paste-on backing is closer to M- condition overall and still in original shrinkwrap. A touch of light wear to some exposed corners. Rare Lp!!!
