US verbalist Aesop Rock follows his offbeat kids' anthem 'Long Legged Larry' with 'Roadwork Rappin', a 7" picture disc cut in the shape of a giant construction vehicle tire. Over a stripped-back beat and rolling bassline that lumbers like heavy machinery, he spins sharp, funny verses about bulldozers, cranes and backhoes, turning job-site grit into cartoon-bright scenes. Hyper-detailed, it's pitched for children but laced with the sly turns of phrase that have defined Rock's u-hip-hop career since the late 90s. The B holds the instrumental, letting the ball-wrecked beat bounce and breathe on its own.
