Description

Originally released in 1986, African Head Charge’s fourth album, Off The Beaten Track, still sounds forward thinking, forging a new middle ground between dub and electronic music. A landmark in the integration of sampling technology and live instrumentation, the record finds programmed chants and unexpected sounds from barking dogs and breaking glass to gypsy violin loops coalescing on a fluid rhythmic bed.
