For auction is AHMED ABDUL-MALIK's "Jazz Sahara" RLP 12-287, MONO, 1958. With Johnny Griffin.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall, the playback is great, very clean and clear. The only things to mention are: 1) a very soft tick beginning the record (about 4 ticks in the blank space leading in, and about 4 ticks at the start of the tune; and, 2) 3 soft/medium volume "pops" in A2. That's it! Overall, a fine listen, and certainly a unique combination of middle eastern sound and jazz.
VINYL: VG+
Visually, the vinyl is very nice looking. Still pretty bright and shiny. There are a couple faint needle marks either side. Nothing anywhere that looks bad. On blue mike-and-reel labels. To be honest, I can't tell if the labels have deep-grooves or not, and Discogs didn't help. They're "sort-of" deep, but I don't want to mis-state.
COVER: VG+ or better
The cover is beautiful. The edges are solid, with a little tear on the bottom (not split). The upper left corner is frayed, the others have routine wear. The front is lovely, very clean, with minimal wear. The back too, is very clean and bright, with routine aging/wear. There's a "promo" stamp on top back.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
