Beautiful copy of the rare 1958 original pressing of the Jazz Sahara LP by Ahmed Abdul-Malik, featuring Johnny Griffin on sax, on Riverside mono RLP-12-287. Abdul-Malik is playing oud on this album, but he is more well-known as a jazz bassist, who played with Monk and others. This is one of the earliest "east-meets-west" jazz albums, with essentially authentic middle eastern oud music with violin, kanoon, darabeka, and duf, blended with Griffin's tenor improvisations. A rare and historic album. This copy is just beautiful. There are some marks scattered around on the disc, but it plays truly gorgeously. I barely hear the slightest crackle anywhere. Really a great player. The cover is just lovely as well, with a little bit of staining noticeable on the back, but not bad. Otherwise no seam splits, ringwear, or even bumped corners, except the lower right, just a tiny, tiny bit. This is a beautiful cover. And it comes in its original plastic cover from the famous Music City record store in Los Angeles! This bag is a collector's item in itself! Anyhow this is a top, lovely playing copy. Hard to beat.
