Description

AL GREEN Green Is Blues 2020 Record Store Day Colored Vinyl LP - FPH1535-1 NM

Al Green’s 1969 debut introduced the voice that would soon define the Hi Records sound. Before the Willie Mitchell-produced run of early-70s classics, Green Is Blues captures a raw Memphis soul foundation with gospel phrasing and tight Southern arrangements.

Highlights include “Back Up Train,” “Don’t Leave Me,” and the title track “Green Is Blues.” The album documents Green’s transition from regional soul singer to emerging Hi Records cornerstone artist.

This is the 2020 US Record Store Day Drop release, limited to 3000 copies worldwide. Issued on the Hi Records Label under exclusive license with Fat Possum Records

Pressed on split green and blue colored vinyl within a tip-on style jacket.

Runouts read FPH1535-1A RKS STERLING and FPH1535-1B RKS STERLING, confirming mastering by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound. Smith’s Sterling cuts are known for dynamic range, low-end warmth, and tape-accurate presentation, making this edition a desirable modern reissue for collectors.
