ALAN BOWN Listen (Island ILPS 9131) RARE UK 1st Pressing + Insert MINT-
RARE very first UK pressing of (The) Alan Bown`s fourth album "Listen" on Island Records (November 1970).
A criminally underrated and overlooked album, (The) Alan Bown`s "Listen" offers everything an early 70s British rock fan could ask for: Fine musicianship (with just the right dose of looseness), an expressive lead singer (Gordon Neville, here replacing the equally fine Robert Palmer), tight and funky brass arrangements (courtesy of producer Mel Collins, ex-King Crimson) and memorable songs (witness the wonderful "Pyramid"). Add to this the cute two-part cover/inner sleeve artwork referencing Francis Barraud`s famous painting of "Nipper" (aka "His Master`s Voice") and you have something akin to a lost classic.
No matter then, that Alan Bown`s "Listen" sank (almost) without a trace; all the better for a late-comer to pick up this highly collectable beauty of a copy, more than 46 years after the fact...enjoy!

- This copy of "Listen" is fully certified to be a very first UK pressing, issued in November 1970.
