Description

Extremely rare: Two 78 rpm records in good condition bound in Friends of Music in the Library of Congress collection from 1941 recorded by Alan and John Lomax. Includes "Lady Of Carlisle" by Basil May on vocals and guitar recorded at Salyersville, KY (1937), "Pretty Polly" by Pete Steele on vocals and 5 string banjo at Hamilton, OH. (1938), "It Makes A Long Time Man Feel Bad" sung by Group of Negro Convicts at Cummins State Prison Farm, Gourd, ARK. (1934), and "O Lord Don' 'Low Me To Beat 'Em" sung by Willie Williams at the State Penitentiary Richmond, VA. (1936). As an added bonus the last sleeve in the collection contains a record of Carl Sandburg reciting "The Three Nice Nice Brothers" b/w "The Five Marvelous Pretzels". Includes booklet with detailed descriptions of the recordings.
